The Thre
e
Lakes Fire Department has adopted and implemented a strategy
to quickly identify childrens bedrooms in an emergency. Operation
Red Ball encourages parents to
obtain and place an Operation
Red Ball sticker on the bedroom
of every child in their household (if there is more than one
child in a one bedroom please place the appropriate amount of
stickers on the window). The stickers are highly visible and
easily recognizable by emergency personell. Please contact us
at info@threelakesfiredepartment.ca,
or ask a Three Lakes Fire Fighter if you require one or more
of these stickers.
The Three Lakes
Fire Department continuosly attends fire seminars and training
courses. These courses are the same courses that full-time,
paid fire fighters are taught. These courses are created by
the NFPA and certifiable by the Saskatchewan Office of the Fire
Commisioner. Their are 13 courses in the NFPA 1001 program Level
1. After succesfully completing all 13 courses the fire fighter
will be certified as a Level 1 Fire Fighter. In addition to
this all of the Three Lakes Fire Fighters possess their Red
Cross First Aid and C.P.R C certificates.
The Fire Fighters
of the Three Lakes Fire Department are not paid for their time
during training and practise sessions. The courses are paid
for by the Three Lakes Fire Organization, but the fire fighters
have elected to forgo payment for their time, so more funds
could be used to purchase equipment.
The
Three Lakes Fire Department holds practise sessions twice a
month, during the months of March, April, May, June, September,
October and November, once per month during the months of December,
January, February and only special practise sessions (such as
live burns) as nessecary during the summer months of July, and
August. The Friends of the Three Lakes Fire Department meet
on the first monday of every month (or more if necessary). And
a general meeting with the members of the Three Lakes Fire Organization
once every year (or more if necessary). The Three Lakes Fire
Fighters have the opportunity to attend the S.V.F.F.A (Saskatchewan
Volunteer Fire Fighters Association) training symposiums twice
a year if they wish, as well as attend at least two or three
other courses a year.
